This week I had the pleasure of visiting the Penguin UK headquarters at the Strand.
I was taken for a big lunch by lovely Editor, Chloe Currens, then back to the offices to talk cat-strategy with Livi Anderson and Kate Smith. I presented a deck of digital ideas for the launch, and we talked about how we'll work together to bring it all to life.
It was so fantastic to hear of all the work being put into this - although i'm new to the publishing world, it's evident how much hard work goes on behind the scenes. It was so great to meet the team, I couldn't help feeling a teeny bit excited when I left the offices. I was laden with books the girls had given me and a Penguin tote bag (I saw a few people checking it out on the tube).
The book, 'How To Argue With A Cat | A Human's Guide To The Art of Persuasion' launches in the UK in March 2018, USA in June 2018 and other countries following that. It's great to get to this point as it's something Jay and I have worked on for years, so we want to put everything we've got into the marketing to make it a success.
What's the book about? I hear you wondering...
Here's what Penguin UK have to say about it,
Cats rank among the world's top negotiators. They get humans to do what they want, when they want. So if you could learn to persuade a cat to do what you wanted, then any human - colleague, friend, boss, partner, or even your most cantankerous relative - would bow to your magic.
This book teaches you all the tricks you need to get along with even the most stubborn adversary. Among other things, you'll learn how to get your body language just right; perfect your timing - the art of the pounce - and make your opponent feel calm, happy, purring and in control, as you steer him or her away from a fight, and towards a mutually-beneficial, scratch-free resolution.
Surprisingly simple and incredibly effective, this guide to winning arguments will lead you to healthier, happier relationships, a more successful career and, even, the ability to herd cats, should you so wish.
